# Pricing - H&B Heating & Cooling

Every HVAC system is different (size, efficiency, ductwork, refrigerant,
fuel type, age, location). H&B does not publish a flat menu price. Every
job gets a written, signed quote that is honored - no "while we're here"
upsells, no commissioned techs pushing replacements.

These ranges are real-world typical numbers for Central Iowa as of
2026-05. Use them as a starting frame, then call **515-419-4534** for a
free in-home assessment and a written quote.

Variables: high-efficiency (96%+ AFUE / 18+ SEER) and variable-speed units
sit at the high end. Two-stage and standard-efficiency units sit at the low
end. Existing ductwork condition matters; ductwork modifications are quoted
separately.

## Federal & state incentives (where applicable)

- Federal residential clean-energy tax credit (25C / 25D) applies to many
high-efficiency heat pump and geothermal installs - up to 30% of installed
cost for geothermal, capped at $2,000 / year for air-source heat pumps and
qualifying high-efficiency gas furnaces and AC.
- Iowa utility rebates (MidAmerican, Alliant) - amounts and eligibility
change yearly. H&B verifies the current program at quote time and helps
  with the rebate paperwork.

H&B will calculate the after-incentive net price on every replacement quote.

## Annual maintenance plans

Custom per home / property. Typical ranges:

- Residential basic plan (1 furnace + 1 AC): $150 - $250 / year
- Residential plus plan (geothermal or multi-zone): $250 - $450 / year
- Commercial plan (RTU / split): quoted per unit

Plans typically include 2 tune-ups per year, priority dispatch, and a
discount on after-hours emergency service.

## What is NOT charged

- No service-call surcharge for booking by phone vs online
- No upsell pressure - techs are not commissioned on replacements
- No diagnostic-fee bait-and-switch (you don't pay $89 to be told a $14,000
full replacement is the only option)
- No after-hours rate increase for active maintenance-plan customers
